And the fact that Europe is worse than the US is saying something, she says, since she's definitely still not positive on US banks.

Other than that, her interview appears to be a rehash of her op-ed arguing that financial reform will kill jobs.

"It could be very bad."

As for specific aspects of financial reform that concern her: pre-emption (rules that would allow banks to move to different states and take advantage of lower interest rates in some markets) and interchange fees regulation.

Specifically, she expects that interchange regulations will cream smaller banks to the benefit of the larger banks, hampering merchants' access to capital.

As for the stock market: The second half will be "bleak."

Why?

No end demand from consumers, and a double dip in housing.

Update: Here's the video.

Jim Rogers is in New York, making the rounds on business television. Here's a great interview with Rogers on CNBC, talking with Maria Bartiromo about the Fed, Geithner, and the state of the US' finances.

He also shared his investment (and trading) outlook on the US dollar, foreign currencies, and commodities. Rogers agrees that gold has rallied strongly and is ready for a move down, but notes that he is keeping his gold for the long term, and he's still quite bullish on relatively undervalued silver.

To get to that answer, Ritholtz shares his views on the following:
Why we simply should have said “Fuck You” to insolvent banks
How Bush started and Obama mistakenly continued the greatest transfer of wealth in the history of the planet
The FDIC and the Swedish model
3 big and non-obvious reasons that puts the wind at gold’s back.
Stock market is up? Who cares! “What the hell do the markets have to do with the economy?” Ask Japan.
Why oil and other $USD priced commodities are going higher – but foreigners beware of real returns
Canada – a great place to invest and gain exposure to commodities
The $USD – encouraging a “race to the bottom” amongst global currencies, counter-trend rally, then another leg down
US equities – impossible to short stocks in this quantitative easing environment
The parallels to 1973-74 and the start of the next secular bull market
Gold – $1,350 and $1,525 targets, then probably goes to its inflation adjusted high

Ritholtz, as always, takes the no nonsense but supremely intelligent approach to economic analysis that we only wish our financial leaders would apply when governing. Keiser's documentary is based largely on an interview with Conservative Party opposition Member of Parliament Phillip Hammond, who is shadow chief secretary of the treasury and who remarks that the British gold sales seem to have been structured precisely to knock the price of gold down rather than to maximize the return to the British government. Hammond also wonders aloud whether "something other than achieving the best price" might have been the objective of the gold sales scheme.

But Keiser's documentary may be sensational for getting an acknowledgement from the German central bank, the Bundesbank, that Germany's gold reserves are actually in the custody of the United States. This is a detail the Bundesbank long has denied to others who have inquired and is potentially a matter of great controversy in Germany. It raises the question of whether the German gold reserves are actually intact at all or whether they have been used by the U.S. government as part of its long-time gold price suppression scheme or have been comingled and diminished with the gold reserves of other countries held in the United States.

kevinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05331047626419936198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2013699811766493039.post-51020911876315270532009-08-02T09:46:00.001+10:002009-08-02T09:48:06.662+10:00corruption in the United States at many levels inside the government and financial sectorHarry Markopolos broke the Bernie Madoff $50 Billion Ponzi Scheme case wide open. His comments in this interview about the corruption in the United States at many levels inside the government and financial sector keep you on the edge of your seat. He is pictured above in Congressional testimony. Many networks picked up coverage of this dramatic testimony & televised it nationally.

Currently a book, documentary and feature film movie are in the planning stages about what Harry did in courageously alerting and exposing the Madoff fraud.

"This is a hair raising interview as he describes the fear for his life. Once he got Madoff indicted, he was still worried that the SEC would have him eliminated, causing him to rush the documents into the public domain. Very interesting discussion. Kudo's to Eric King, who has put together an amazing string of interviews..."
